pileofgirls at Highwire Gallery 01/13/2011 7.30p

I will be performing as pileofgirls at Highwire Gallery next Thursday. Accompanied by a delightful cast, we will present a circuit bent live production hardcore booty dance party in three movements.

Featuring: vocoder, monotron, sk1, sk5, dbx boombox, modular 25 point bend matrix, 4 Barbie Karaoke Machines, DR-202 Groovebox, and an assortment of treats for the kids!

Other artists presenting this evening also pursue both electronic and performance art avenues. I am hoping for a no holds barred low frequency showdown. This will be a spectacular evening of creativity, creation, perhaps a little noise, and huge ass kicking bass.

We will be performing first, so please come out early!

Blevin Blectum:

"Bevin Kelley (Blevin Blectum) is an electronic musician and multimedia composer. Her performances are often loose narratives incorporating live interactive electronic sound, manipulated field recordings, film, action and costume.

She has released four solo albums, and many more in collaboration with other musicians and filmmakers. Bevin is one half of the sonic/stage duo Blectum From Blechdom, recipients of the 2001 Ars Electronica Award of Distinction in Digital Music. She was one fourth of the audio/visual band Sagan (with Lesser, Wobbly & Ryan Junell). Her most recent multimedia work was a series of pieces based on Philip K. Dick's short story 'The Preserving Machine', in which sheet music is transformed into creatures and back again. She now also performs with self-custom-made max-msp bracer-controllers." bio

Ric Royer:

“In my work I try really hard to be a pleasure to others. Check out all of my truths, delivered with occasional passion. My things navigate through the most obscene, uncomfortable, and disturbing aspects of the psyche in order to stimulate a deep archaic root of radical libidinousness. Dramatic contrasts of moral values appeal to me, I use them to trace moments I have imagined. Each sketch acts as a guidepost to ensure that I don't take my/yourself too seriously, but just seriously enough.”- High Zero bio

Nonhorse:

Nonhorse is the crux of most human difficulty, a semantic anomaly ferociously battled by analog foundsound/circuitbent/tapenoise artist G. Lucas Crane ever since his unwittingly contradictory recognition of this, the aforementioned crux. Mr. Crane has been barely surviving performances, both solo and in support of bands including Dufus, Woods, Castanets, and Wooden Wand and the Vanishing Voice, since the turn of the century. Beware, and attentive.

Pile of Girls:

“The solo project of Sam Cusumano of Niagara Falls, oft times joined by Rosali Middleman (Blood Like Mine & Ghost Ship). Circuit bent Barbie Keytars and other castoff electronic devices create a grime groove that’ll make you move! Shocking syncopation that rocks the rhythm nation, Pile of Girls always gets the party started and leaves no one broken hearted. ” - bio
