On Tuesday 5/22 Electricity for Progress will be presenting ‘Alternative Interfaces’. We will explore modified and custom circuits being used as ‘effects’. Accompanied by Geoff Bucknam, we will run guitar signal through 1.) the apple distortion, 2.) an open-face modified pedal 3.) the Barbie Karaoke Machine.
Human interaction with musical audio effects can to be limited to knobs and stomp switches. By using extended objects, like hands and apples, we will present alternative interfaces for making, controlling, and modifying sound. Have no fear, there will be ample knobs and switches on hand as well!
Please join us on Tuesday 5/22 at Highwire Gallery in Fishtown, 7:30p, $6 https://www.facebook.com/events/376131412430851/

and if you really want, i will bring the Barbie keytar.
cheers!

Interesting I’ve never seen this done with apples before. Also I would like to see the barbie keytar if that isn’t too much trouble.
The apples act as salty bags of water (radio antenna) which allows humans (also salty bags of water) to interact without touching the electrodes. This can produce very dynamic soundscapes.
per the barbie keytar, there’s a very old recording on myspace.com/pileofgirls
